The Right Aggregates at the Right Time
Predictive insight can be boosted by introducing data aggregates as potential predictive variables in the analytical data set. For example, a telecommunications operator might calculate the average number of calls per day and then further slice those results by call type, destination, or time of day.
While aggregates play such a big role in predictive modeling, they’re typically not part of your CRM, ERP or business intelligence solution. So data miners go ahead and calculate these numbers by hand each and every time they want to build or refresh a predictive model. Seem redundant? Well, it is.
